Generally dirt and grime on sofas builds up over time and embeds itself into the grain of the leather. In order to do a deep clean the technician will first complete a pre clean. This is using leather cleaner and a lint free cloth. After the initial clean the technician will use leather cleaner again sprayed directly onto the leather and a scrubbing brush to clean the leather. As you can see by the pictures after a deep clean the colour of the leather is significantly different.
This being because the build up of dirt over time changes the colour of the leather slightly but isn’t noticeable to most as it’s a slight colour change each day that you’re not noticing.
We do recommend that if you’re not actively cleaning your leather yourself you have the leather sofa deep cleaned once a year to prevent the body oils amongst the dirt from eating away at the leather and causing damage.
Unfortunately more often than not body oils eat away at the leather and cause damage that isn’t noticed due to the dirt on the sofa covering it until it’s significant.
Normally we do not recommend that a sofa is deep cleaned only. A clean and colour restoration would be recommended as more often than not a clean only will reveal areas of damage that we’re not previously noticed by the customer that would then require repairs. A colour restoration would restore any areas of damage uncovered by the cleaning.
