The arm of this sofa has collapsed inwards. This is due to the arm being made with either plywood or particleboard and not being able to take the weight of a person.
In order to repair the collapsed arm of the sofa the technician will begin by flipping the sofa over and gaining access to the underside.
Next the technician will remove the two feet from the bottom of the arm that is in need of repair.
To access the inside of the sofa the technician will remove the staples using a braddle and pliers.
The technician will only remove the staples around the area that they are looking to access.
After the staples are removed this will allow the technician to peel back the dust cover on the bottom or the sofa to see inside.
Dependant on the structure of the frame inside the technician will decide how to proceed.
However the technician will rebuild the frame and install support rails inside the arm.
This will be done using structural wood and screws.
Now that the frame is repaired the technician can re fit the dust cover to the bottom of the sofa using a staple gun.
Once the dust cover has been secured the technician will re fit the feet to the bottom of the sofa and return the sofa to sit right side up.
We do recommend that you don’t sit on the arm of the sofas even after a repair is done, please use the sofa seat cushions to sit.
